 2024 GENERAL RULES: 

  1. Integrity is expected!

  2. No complainers allowed!

  3. Show is open to youth age 21 years and under as of July 19, 2024.

  4. Animals will be identified by ear tag # and classed by weight and/or DOB at check in.

  5. Animals must be pre-entered; however, you do not need to specify tag numbers prior to weighing/checking in. Example: if you enter 3 market lambs, you may only bring and show 3 market lambs. We will collect ear tag/identification information upon weigh in.

  6. Only ONLINE entries, through Showman, will be accepted.

  7. Entry deadlines: Showmanship Showdown - June 21, 2024 | Jackpot Show - July 12, 2024

  8. Late entries will be accepted until July 17th, and the option to enter will turn off at midnight (Mountain Standard Time) on July 18th, 2024.

  9. By entering online, each exhibitor agrees that he/she is responsible for any loss, injury, or damage that results to him/her, his/her officers, agents, employees or animals.

  10. If an exhibitor has more than one animal in the same class, they may have assistance from another show exhibitor.

  11. Montana Royal is a non-terminal show. There are no minimum or maximum weights. There may be a weigh back at the show’s discretion. Animals must weigh within 5% of their official weight or they will be disqualified.

  12. Animals may NOT bump up to a heavier weight class or down to a lighter weight class.

  13. No refunds of entry fees will be given. Entries will not be accepted without accompanying payment.

  14. Showmanship age groups are as follows: Senior 17-21; Intermediate 13-16; Junior 9-12; Peewee 8 and under.

  15. Heifers and steers must be halter broke. Animals that are unmanageable will be asked to leave. Heifers must be under 24 months of age as of the show date. There must be a minimum of 5 heifers entered in a division to continue it as a full class. If there are less than 5, they will be moved to the AOB division.

  16. Steers, lambs, hogs and goats must be of the feeder type and kind. Lambs, hogs and goats must be under one year of age. Lambs and goats must have baby teeth or they may be disqualified.

  17. The top two animals from each class will return for selection of Grand and Reserve Champion in their respective division. Classes will be determined the day of the show based on entries.

  18. The management of Montana Royal Junior Livestock Show has the right to interpret these rules as they see fit. Their decision is FINAL! Judge’s decision is FINAL! You get what you get and you don’t throw a fit!

  19. Exhibitors are expected to clean up after themselves and their animal(s). Please give yourself enough time to thoroughly clean up your area. Management will check off each area prior to the exhibitor leaving the premises.

  20. Proper courtesy and conduct are required by exhibitors and spectators at all times. If you can't behave, you will be invited to leave.

PRIZES AND AWARDS 

  1. Cash premiums will be paid in market and breeding classes only, and will be distributed the day of the show.

  2. Buckles will be awarded to the Supreme Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion (overall) Market Hog, Gilt, Steer, Heifer, Market Goat, Market Lamb, and Wether Dam (ewe).

  3. Grand and Reserve Showmen in each age division and specie will receive a belt buckle.

  4. Supreme and Reserve Supreme Showmen will receive belt buckle racks. No money will be awarded in showmanship.

  5. Awards will be given to third up to fifth place depending on the number of entries. Low entry numbers will result in fewer awards.

  6. Exhibitors who are members of the 509 Show Circuit can collect points towards overall awards. Grand and Reserve Champion Buckles will be awarded to the first and second high point exhibitors. Awards will be given to 3-10th overall high point.

FLATHEAD COUNTY 4-H AND KALISPELL FFA ONLY MARKET CLASS RULES: 

(ALL Montana Royal General Rules apply except where the following may supersede) 

  1. Integrity is expected.

  2. Exhibitors must be enrolled and in good standing in Flathead 4-H and/or Kalispell FFA.

  3. Animals exhibited in the Flathead County Only Market Class MUST be tagged for the 2024 NW Montana Fair.

  4. Animals exhibited in the Flathead County Only Market Class may also be entered in the regular market and/or breeding shows.

  5. Each exhibitor is eligible to win the Flathead County Only Market Class two times (per species) and then they must move up to the regular Montana Royal market class in each subsequent year.

  6. All Flathead County Only Market entries will be shown together, by species, depending on the number of entries.

  7. Species included in Flathead County Only Market Classes are: steers, lambs and hogs.

  8. Flathead County Classes are for MARKET ONLY. Showmanship entries will exhibit in the regular Montana Royal showmanship classes.
